Prices are information only — not financial advice. Data: CoinPaprika / CoinGecko. A coin being big does not make it a good buy; most beginners should understand Bitcoin first before looking at anything else on this list.

Start Here — Bitcoin in 5 Steps

The whole thing takes most people an afternoon, including the reading.

1

Understand what it is

Bitcoin is digital money with a fixed supply — 21 million, ever — that no government or company controls. Its price moves a lot, sometimes violently. Never buy with money you can't afford to watch drop 30%.

2

Pick a registered platform

In Canada, use a platform registered with Canadian regulators (see the comparison below). If a platform isn't registered here, your money has no protection when something goes wrong — and things go wrong.

3

Fund it with Interac

Registered Canadian platforms take Interac e-Transfer from your bank, usually free and fast. You'll verify your ID once — that's the law, and a platform that skips it is a red flag.

4

Buy a small first amount

Start with an amount that lets you sleep — $50 or $100. Learn how buying, selling, and sending feel while the stakes are tiny. You can always add later; you can't un-send a mistake.

5

Hold it safely + know the tax rule

Small amounts can stay on the platform. As it grows, your own wallet is safest — and the golden rule is: never share your seed phrase with anyone, ever. In Canada, selling or swapping crypto is a taxable event (like selling a stock); keep your records.

For Agents

AI agents are becoming economic actors, and Bitcoin's Lightning Network is the rail they can actually use — no bank account, no card, payments down to a fraction of a cent.

Free data API (beta)

GET /api/top30 — the top 30 with prices in USD, CAD, EUR and GBP. GET /api/news — headlines. Served from our API worker at enterbitcoin-api.jourdanlagace.workers.dev. Cache at least 60 seconds.

L402 is coming here

Next step: pay-per-call access over Lightning using the L402 protocol — no accounts, no API keys; the payment is the login. Agents will buy price data and research here for a few sats a call.

Giving an agent a wallet, safely

Guides in the works: agent wallets with hard spending caps, endpoint allowlists, small working floats, and sweeping profits to cold storage. An agent with money is an attack surface — set it up like it matters.
